in many names. The pilgrimage is based on the personal beliefs and faith of the religion and is sometimes believed to be a metaphoric journey into someone’s individual
beliefs. Based on the religion, a particular place have some spiritual importance. In the Islamic religion, the Mecca is that city that is situated in the Tijamah
plain in Saudi Arabia. This is also the capital city and the administrative headquarter of the Makkah region. The significance of this place is associated with the
birth of Prophet Muhammad and is the holiest city in the world in the Islamic culture.
The pilgrimage to Mecca at a certain time period of every year is considered as the most sacred pilgrimage among the Muslims. The time period comes every year and is
at a special time that is from 8th to 12th of the last calendar month of the Islamic calendar, Dhu al-Hijjah. Among the Muslims, it is believed that the journey to the
sacred Mecca at this period of time is the most challenging and yet the holiest journey. The journey is named as Hajj. The Hajj is a special journey and the ritual of
performing Hajj at least once in the lifetime of a Muslim must be performed by those who can afford the journey either physically or financially. Also, during their
absence, their family must get the proper support.
Visiting Mecca in other times is also popular and are usually performed by those, who cannot afford the Hajj and that pilgrimage is known as Umrah. This is a journey
considered to be with the lesser status of pilgrimage. However, the journey of Hajj is not only an outward act of journey but the real inner intention of the person.
