Ford Motor Company is an international corporation that is made up of the world most recognized trucks, cars, and SUV’s. The human resource department at Ford Motor Company has trained, experienced, and hardworking employees who ensure they deliver the best solution to clients (Ford 2014). The HR department is an essential part of the company that develops and support people who design, build, and also sell the world’s best vehicles. This paper will evaluate the human resource and business strategy at Ford Motor Vehicle, the HR department job positions, and how it markets the company about human capital.
HR strategy is in alignment with business strategy
Aligning HR and business strategy normally help to ensure that the company can realize its goals. When HR is considered, it can forecast the number of people needed and what skills are needed (Deb 2006). The Ford Company usually provides an excellent opportunity for its human resource professionals that they have never experienced in global and cultural consideration. The HR professionals at Ford lead the most ambitious transformation in the business world today. So as to make sure the business operations are conducted accordingly, the HR has to focus on the team, individual, and organizational effectiveness (Deb 2006). Ford Motor Company normally provides many opportunities for experiencing the expertise and the technical knowledge for designing and manufacturing facilities. In order to properly align the with the business strategy, it has to be organized so as to play a role in strategic planning. The HR department should ensure that human asset is aligned with the company's strategy. For this to happen, the organization should adopt a new perspective of HR.
HR job position and responsibilities
Some of the HR job positions at Ford Motor Company include employee relations. The employee relations job requires the personnel to work closely with the employees in manufacturing facilities. The individual in this job position also advises and supports the line managers with implementation and interpretation of company policies that impact employees. The other position is operational HR manager (Ford 2014). This job position acts as a business partner to the line managers through understanding the issues and requirements of the business operations. The person responsible also provides relevant support with workforce development and planning. Labor relation is a job position at Ford Motor Company that is responsible for negotiating collective bargaining agreements with the union. The job position is also responsible for developing and implementing labor policy and also works with the HR staff and managers of unionized employees so as to ensure compliance with the contract (Deb 2006).

The job position that I would prefer is the operational HR manager. This is a job position that deals with developing and administering human resource initiative and providing HR support to all organization departments. I prefer this job position because it helps in ensuring that the organization conducts its operations in the right manner. This is a job position that requires in-depth knowledge in the legal requirement that are related to HR in reducing legal risks and also ensuring the compliance of regulations.
HRM strategies to improve competitive advantages
The major goal of HR is to create and sustain the workforce that meets the needs of the business. So as to acquire a competitive advantage, the HRM department in the company should consider doing performance evaluation in order to determine the employees with the highest performance score in a certain skill (Deb 2006). When doing this, the company should ensure that they provide certain incentives or even promote the high performing employees in a certain strategic position. This is a strategy that will help to attract the skilled and knowledgeable employees to the company and also ensure that it retains the most talented; thus, improving the company’s competitive advantage.
Diversity is essential in a company because it helps to attract and retain talent and also creates a competitive advantage that tends to result to a better understanding about the customer expectations and their values (Ristow et al. 2009). The company can increase diversity through providing leadership education. Ford Company should ensure that women and minority people have access to leadership training in order to be eligible for promotion. When the company allows this group to leadership training, it will be allowing them to grow. Another way to increase diversity is through identifying company’s needs and matching them with demographic requirement according to the workplace. The company should also make a long-term commitment to diversifying. Creating a diversified workforce normally takes time; thus, it is essential for the company to be committed to ensuring that they create a diversified work environment.
Ford Motor Company HR is aimed at building a team of staff that possesses strong consumer instincts and also innovative ideas. With the effective measures of HR department, it has ensured Ford has the best resources that will help it grow and prosper.
