Healthcare professionals in private and public health agencies can lobby so as to present their concerns. Leaders overseeing health services can lobby with legislators and financial bodies to pass legislation or provide finances needed to operate the human service organizations (Fertman, & Allensworth, 2010).
Lobbying, on the other hand, refers to the practice of influencing public officials on legislation matters. Lobbyists engage in lobbying activities with the hope that they exert adequate pressure to convince the legislators to make political decisions, in the favor of the lobbying individuals or groups. Lobbyists can use lobbying strategies to request for funds to operate human health services (Fertman, & Allensworth, 2010). The ideal types of advocacy that would result to positive results include mass advocacy and media advocacy. Legislative advocacy can be successful because it will entail the coming together of many participants. Similarly, legislative advocacy would yield positive results because the main aim will be to push the federal government to funds.
Social movements, on the other hand, refer to the act of mass mobilization with the intention of defending a stand or motivating a societal change. Social movements take advantage of their numbers to exert their social power. In an effort to pass a policy, social movement organization can use their numbers to be heard (Fertman, & Allensworth, 2010). Social movements can influence many people to join the social movements. Social movements can thus paralyze social infrastructure such as transport as members take their demonstrations to the streets.
