According to State of Inbound 2017, only 61% believe that the strategy used by their organisation for marketing is effective. The rest 39% has a say that the most disruptive force that could affect their job in the next 3-5 years is the lack of research a company does when it comes to marketing strategies.
So what do you think makes a marketing strategy the best for its organisation? How could we decide on what factors need to be considered while making an effective strategy?
The state of Inbound 2017 has taken a survey to give guidance to any organisation in building the best strategies for marketing of their product. There could be not one but many such factors. Let us have a dive into few of the many factors that could possibly affect marketing strategies.
Is Organization’s marketing strategy affected by seniority?
This single question generates multiple other questions which need to be answered to get an answer for this question.
Are senior executives seeing benefits from marketing campaigns that are not being shared with individual teams and managers? It’s possible that each individual team (consisting of a manager and any number of individual contributors) are not getting a holistic view of Marketing’s performance. So, in the absence of clear results, team is judging their organizations harshly. Or, even worse, performance is below established goals, and senior executives, for whatever reason, are blind to it. No matter the actual reason, at the end of the day there is a connection between leadership’s view and employees’ attitude. This will evolve into a larger business problem if it’s not properly addressed.
Thus, Clearer communication between leaders and staff is necessary. Irrespective of the seniority level of an individual, he/she needs to know about the strategies being implemented to put in their best.
Based on organization’s approach to marketing, should you feel that your marketing strategy is effective?
Although the difference between inbound and outbound marketing is subtle and often the lines between the two can be blurred, inbound marketing is described as a method of attracting customers through content and incentives which inspires them to identify themselves and request more information at the time of purchase. Outbound marketing is accomplished with a few traditional ways like direct mailing, telemarketing, email marketing and events where the marketers have a basic knowledge of your target audience.
An inbound marketing program can be considered as the first step in a long-term marketing campaign to capture lead data; whereas an outbound would be used to educate the customers with the product or service specification to the point where they are ready to make a buying decision.
Together of course, they can create a long-term program that can produce a continuous stream of sales opportunities.
But when seen as an individual, organizations that are inbound are more likely to state that their marketing strategy is effective.
Do you feel that your organisation’s marketing strategy is being affected by geography?
The state of inbounds have taken a survey in different geographical areas like ANZ (Australia, New Zealand), Asia, LATAM (Latin America), EMAA (Europe, Middle East and Africa). 63% of employees who reside in EMAA are satisfied with the strategies their organisation’s use to do marketing. Although, it is observed that confidence in marketing strategy is being reduced in Asia and Australia and New Zealand, the areas with the lowest adoption of inbound marketing.
The more effective the strategy would be the more your business would reach at a greater height and achieve success. Getting the right strategy is a must; you can either build one yourself for your organisation or outsource your projects to various digital marketing agencies.
