Some Nail Polish Mistakes You Need To Avoid

We girls are always looking out for a chipped corner or dullness in colour on our well preserved and painstakingly maintained nails. It is quite a task to keep these nails and its colours unharmed while the tap is taping on the keyboard or chop chopping on the kitchen board. These days you get to buy nail polish online. But watch out for these mistakes that you are probably making while painting your nails in various shades.

Be Patient

Applying nail polish is one of the works that tops the list of ‘destroyed by impatience’. We usually get overwhelmed by how beautiful our nails look with our choice of colours on, but we forget that nail polish takes quite long to dry. It would appear to be perfectly set in twenty to thirty minutes, but it actually takes about 24 hours to settle properly. Keep your fingers spread and hold them upright so that it does not touch any surface or gets smudged anyhow.

Turn Down the Heat

Running to a hot shower after applying nail polish is a strict NO NO. Nail polish when exposed to heat and steam tends to smudge. Bubbles too are formed on the surface that damages the flawless finish of your manicured nails. Make sure to give the nail polish enough time to settle before you head for a relaxing hot shower.
PRO TIP: To dry the nail polish faster run cold water over your nails. But make sure that the stream does not hit directly on the painted nail as the flowing water could smudge it.

Thinner the Better

Nail polish sometimes appears to be translucent after the first coat. It does not cover the nail or appears to be a shade lighter than you thought it was. The costliest one in your nail polish sets too can give same results. What we often do in such situations is apply a thick coat on the next finger. And that is exactly where we go wrong. Thicker the coat of nail polish you apply, more the chances of it peeling away when it dries. Also applying a generous coat shall increase the time it takes for it to dry. For the best results, keep the coats thin and apply multiple layers of them over time to give you the perfect finish whether you buy nail polish online or from the market.

Strike off the Single Stroke

To apply nail polish smoothly, we sometimes try to cover the nail in one stroke. If you see your manicurist, they may pick up any colour or brand from their nail polish sets and apply them in three to four strokes. This helps cover a larger area and does not make it peel away.
