Finally, the weekend is here, but you are not smiling! Those couple of holidays you have been waiting with your bated breath have finally arrived, but you are not bothered. When did this all happen? When did you lose the spring in your step? What happened to that energetic soul who now feels like a tired one?

What is Burnout?

It’s a condition where you experience a physical or mental exhaustion that is caused by the stress of excessive work for a prolonged period. It has become a pretty common phenomenon among the youth these days.

Exhaustion: Exhaustion is the most common symptom in the burnout cases. The people affected feel sapped off their energy and feel weak for the most part of the day.

Reduced Performance: The decline in your work performance doesn’t happen overnight, rather it is slow and gradual. You can find it out by carefully assessing your work performance to your initial working days.

Mood Swings, Frustrations, and Indifference: Things that were important to you are no longer you a cup of tea or worse, you feel indifferent.You turn hostile towards your colleagues at the drop of your hat and you feel disconnected with your peers.

How to face the Burnout?

These early symptoms of Burnout are the some certain signs the you need a break from your routine work .A break that resets your mood,cheers you up and replenishes you with a joy and playfulness.There are numerous papers published in Journal of Applied Psychology that suggest that taking a holiday break can help you relieve the effects of burnout.Sitting idle at your home is not a holiday .A holiday break must act as a reset button to break off your monotony,so choose a holiday trips that forces you to do fun things.So plan a thrill ride with your friends,or make a quick trip to the Amusement parks or theme parks ,you cannot go wrong there.

But that’s not all about it.These thrill rides and adventure parks will give you a temporary respite from your work for they are only on the weekends.You must supplement them by doing something daily that could potentially benefit you.Start an exercise regimen, adopt a healthy sleeping pattern that can give you a solid 7-8 hrs.If it really comes to it, seriously consider a change of workplace.Nothing is more important than your health and contentment ,isn’t it ?
