Global warming, pollution, depletion all these terms have been serious issues. Human disturbances to environment have led to unrecoverable damage. We are falling short of minerals, most resources are polluted, forests are shedding, animals are getting extinct, and etc the reason for all of this is human. Over exploitation of resources and upon that polluting the resources had led to the above mentioned issues. Textile Industry is largely depended upon the environmental factors and resources. In this world of 2017, people have taken the responsibility of saving the resources for upcoming generation and not misusing or destroying the environment. Optimum utilisation of resources with minimum wastage as well as proper waste disposal is the oath industries took.

Many industries that are turning eco-friendly are supported and encourage by government as well. Even consumers are aware and opt for industries which are environmental friendly. It is high time now to care for the world environment. Not just NGOs and government is taking step for environmental care and development but every individual firm and person is responsible. Textiles being depended on environmental resources have extended their responsibilities towards environment. Environment is equally affected by textiles from the point of producing raw materials, manufacturing them, process, using the products and disposal. Apparels supplier industries have skipped the techniques which harm the environment and adopted other ways of processes and technology. The cotton textiles in Indian are now using organic which is free from all fertilizers and pesticides. Apparels manufactured from such kind of cotton need less water during the production as compared to the traditional cotton. It is also safe to use for consumers. There are fabrics which are bio-degradable. Fabrics are now much eco-friendly and purpose fulfilling for consumers too. Industrial hemp is widely adopted which is easy to grow without pesticides and fertilizers. This way the soil is not damaged nor there is any other harm to environment. Many alternatives have been found for growing raw materials, manufacturing, producing and disposing the waste. Recycling is constantly practiced throughout the industry. Textile fabrics are recycled to make a new product. Even there are emerging industries which are recycling plastic into wearable fabric. Plastic is recycled into polyester and other synthetic fabrics. Bamboo fabric has also been emerging as an eco-friendly fabric. It is said to be fast growing and requires a lot less amount of water as compared to cotton, Moreover it is self-generating and saves from soil erosion. It is also bio-degradable, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal which mean no harm to skin. All these fabrics which do not require pesticides, etc. are known as organic fabric.

Dyeing is also made natural and processes have developed which led to no wastage. Biotechnology is a technique improving the quality of resources extracted from animal and plant. Dr Fred Cook suggested that the key for the eco-friendly processing in the chemical and auxiliary industry was the elimination of organic solvents. Other initiatives include the elimination of chemicals altogether. Sustainable development and being eco-friendly also led to better process of dyeing and finishing of products. Go green technology can be accomplished by using chemical-free dyes. Yarn suppliers in India are using natural dyes made from plants, marine invertebrates, algae, bacteria, and fungi. Many herbal dyes are used in the range of textile firms.

With a little care and concern from the textile industry environment has seen changes. The harmful smoke that lingers in the air, pollutants which flow in water and the chemicals in the products, everything is reduced and we are reaching the goals of being eco-friendly.
