While the fervor of the upcoming World Cup season in limited format is on, a special news came up for India. The nation will host the World Cup in the following season in 2023. The next world cup in limited format will be in England, India will host the season following the recent one. This will be the first time India will host ICC ODI World Cup match schedules single handedly.
ICC World Cup matches in ODI format have been played previously in the country for three seasons, but those were joint venues. In 1987, both India and Pakistan hosted the tournament, while in 2011, the fixtures were scattered over India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. In 1996, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka hoisted the tournament. India also hosted the T20 world cup in the latest version a couple of years back.
England, the host of 2019 World Cup has begun its preparation for the tournament since long. The cricket administration of the country rejuvenated some old stadiums and to make them perfect for World Cup venues. India too has several pitches that became headlines for their poor quality. The Nagpur pitch was on spotlight as ICC rated the pitch as very poor after a feeble play of South Africa a couple of years back. The stadium underwent a facelift and international matches were held afterwards with no such complain.

Apart from rejuvenating the old ones, BCCI is also trying to bring new stadium into the international circuit. The introduction of venues like Thiruvananthapuram and Guwahati in recent tournaments are such examples.

Apart from working on pitches and field, team India is currently through a tough form. It is certainly on the right tract targeting the 2019 version of the cup, being the top ODI team in ICC charts currently. Also, there are several players including Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and others in the top charts of ICC players.
Meanwhile, several players might find a way out before the 2023 version of the world cup. For instance, MS Dhoni is being contemplated to play his last World Cup in 2023. The likes of Jasprit Bumrah and young batsman like Lokesh Rahul would be the top bets in the long-term roadmap of the team. The player would need to keep up the pace of their game as they are doing it now. Although, 2023 is almost six years away, a long-term strategy would keep team India on tract to be the winning team of the tournament at home.
