5 Things That Small And Mid-sized Enterprises Don’t Want In Erp Solutions
Total Articles: 10
Businesses find it tough to concentrate on one area or the other because for them, human resources are as important as financial resources, and which must be. However, the diverse range of departments, redundant data, and improper synchronization hampers the performance in overall.
Thankfully, an upscale innovation like ERP or Enterprise Resource Planning happened to the businesses and chalked a different path for the organizations. Like several technologies, the ERP has also a set of advantages and disadvantages. Since the topic mainly covers the perspective of small and mid-sized enterprises about the ERP software, the latter doesn’t wish for the following.
1. Intensive on-going maintenance
Small and mid-sized businesses have a limited scope and under that periphery, they have to perform. If a small organization is repeatedly asked to provide money for maintaining the ERP software, it isn’t possible due to apparent reason – budgeted limitation. Rather, these enterprises would look for the best ERP software that doesn’t require these intensive maintenance exercises and is easily upgradeable, and expandable.
2. Non-flexible architecture
All business organizations require an agile IT environment for delivering outstanding performance through their activities. Nevertheless, some of the software vendors offer one-size-fits-all-type ERP solutions to these businesses, just because they can’t “afford” costly solutions. A non-flexible, non-versatile architecture is never wanted. Small businesses want to customize tools with proven functionality and operations.
3. Complex interface
Quite a number of ERP users do complain about their lacuna while understanding the ERP systems. This is no trivial issue. If a user isn’t able to utilize the ERP software, it is the business that is going to suffer. It causes a hindrance in performance. The “modern” vendors of manufacturing cloud ERP solutions ensure an easy-to-use interface for the users, which eliminates complex activities at the interface.
4. Higher investment
Though this has been at the foremost of topics, reiterating it was necessary. Even when the software vendors claim about offering “affordable”, “cheap” or “reasonable” ERP solutions, they don’t completely mean it. One way or the other, they would find ways of charging the client with unscrupulous requests/proposals or so on. The small and medium organizations cannot invest in an IT infrastructure, nor can they afford a dedicated IT workforce for the same.
5. Split management solutions
Every organization enters into the industry with their own set of unique challenges. They have to accommodate certain nuggets of information in a smooth format. As a result, they require flexible management solutions instead of split management solutions. For a company that is asking for custom ERP cloud computing services, the meaning shouldn’t interpret as limited services. No, they don’t mean that. The flexibility should be there for modular and gradual implementation with higher independence.
Last, but not the least, the uniformity in the ERP software ensures smooth functioning of the enterprise as a whole. It shouldn’t provide different “views” with a suite of reports.
Apparently, a small and mid-sized enterprise looks for a holistic ERP solution at a minimal cost. But, these organizations do not want a compromised solution.
