They are based on the trips between the source and destination where they are going to pick up the patient and return to their ambulance station.

The residents of Tasmania have many offers with statewide Ambulance coverage given by their state government. They also enjoy reciprocal agreements in all Australian states apart from other countries.

The residents of South Australia also have a number of benefits compared to the other states. They give benefits to all the people who are travelled to SA with visiting visa. They don’t charge any extra fees with residents. Everything is given and supplied the state government.

Those living in Perth's area require private health insurance to be. The WA Government looks after the bill for all aged pensioners. ACT residents need to buy an ambulance coverage from a private health provider. The people of ACT residents with a concession card are covered for emergency ambulance services with people affected by various reasons. The private health insurance can be very complicated in this state.

The Four Things You Need To Know About Private Ambulance Coverage

• Emergency Fees: Emergency ambulance services are more expensive compared to non-emergency cases! The cost of the ambulance cover ranges from $200 to $1200, though emergency services should be covered fully.
• Exceptions to coverage: The majority of ambulance policies have some exclusions. Some policies exclude ambulance transportation between hospitals, health-care facilities or the patient’s home. Often a policyholder has a cap on how many covered ambulance services they're allowed per year.
• Interstate Cover:  Check if your state is part of the Australian reciprocal Ambulance arrangement before you purchase Ambulance Cover.
• Air Ambulance: Australia’s vital air ambulance service transports patients from outback locations to hospitals, but it's far from cheap! Fees for fixed-wing aircraft and helicopter ambulance services are capped $5,716 per call-out in NSW.  In Victoria a fixed-wing aircraft call out will incur a $2000 charge per call out and $10,000 or more for helicopter transport.

All private health cover buyers are eligible for the Federal government’s variable rebate – which may include emergency ambulance services.
