Appreciating Work Of Underprivileged Children Organizations

Basically, a privilege is a right of people and those who stay unreachable or unaware of these rights are said to be underprivileged as they don’t have rights as other people have. And education is one of those basic rights that every person should possess. But, poor people are generally said to be underprivileged because they stay unaware of their rights. Thus, several underprivileged children organizations are working in different areas such as availing food, medical care, and education while others provide employment opportunities to such people to serve their basic rights and make them aware of it. Poor people remarkably remain underprivileged.

Let’s take a quick glimpse on the underprivileged scenario:

• 95 out of every 1000 children born in India don’t see their fifth birthday, whereas, 70 out of every 1000 don’t see their first birthday

• One out of every 10 children is immobilized

• 40% of India’s total population is below 18 years, that is, approx. 400 million people. This is child’s largest population in the world.

... It’s shocking that only 38% population below two years are properly vaccinated

• 74% of the children populations below the age of 3 months are anemic

• 75% of women are pushed into the marriage before their legal age of marriage

• One in every five adolescent boys and one in every two adolescent girls are malnourished

• 23% of the toddlers are underweight at the time of their born

• More than 60% of children and one in three women are anemic

• Acute respiratory infections with 30% is the leading cause of child mortality followed by diarrhea with 20%

• One out of every 100 children between the age of 0 to 14 years suffers from acute respiratory infection, whereas, one out of every five suffers from diarrhea

• Around 58% of children under the age of 2 years don’t get their complete vaccination, while 24% of these don’t even get any sort of vaccination

• More than 50% of children are under-nourished.

The above statistics are really shocking, thus, the underprivileged children organizations are working to improve those statistics by empowering human rights and the basic needs. The areas in which such organizations work are:

Education – Illiteracy and poverty go hand-in-hand, thus, organizations provide free education to such group to open doors of opportunities for them.

Health – Due to poor living standard of these groups of people leads to poor health and sanitation.

Nutrition – The above mentioned statistics are telling much about the inadequacy of essential nutrients intake where the under-nourished children experience a range of health problems such as malnutrition, delays in mental and physical development, and other illnesses.
