The Forbidden City In Beijing

Beijing is one of the most remarkable destinations around the world. Featured with many several monuments and interesting historical sites, Beijing is often where many travel packages to China begin.
One of the most notable historical sites and the most significant landmark of Beijing is the Forbidden City. Being the residence of many Chinese emperors, the Forbidden City is featured with many wonderful halls, numerous rooms and chambers, and magnificent decorations. Many tourists who travel to China explore the Forbidden City, famous for being the largest historical complex of palaces in the whole globe.
Historically, only the emperors of China and selected members of their royal family were allowed to enter these palaces in the Forbidden City. Perhaps, this is why the complex gained this distinctive name. Today, the Forbidden City welcomes hundreds of tourists who travel to China.
During the 15th century, under the leadership of Yongle, the third Emperor of the Ming Dynasty, the construction of the first palace of the Forbidden City began. More than 200 thousand workers participated ...
... in the construction of this great complex that took 14 years to be completed. The result was a marvelous construction that grabs the attention of hundreds of travelers who tour China.
The objective of Yongle was to strengthen the northern section of China and to transfer the capital to Beijing. After his death, the Forbidden City hosted more than 20 Chinese Emperors until the whole ruling system of the country changed in 1911 and the complex was transformed afterwards to become a wonderful landmark that all tourists who spend their vacations in China explore.
Among the most distinctive features of the Forbidden City is the yellow tiles that used to symbolize the royalty of the complex. The walls and the ceilings of the complex are characterized by drawings of dragons with the marvelous shades of blue and turquoise. A visit to the Forbidden City is commonly included in many travel packages to China that include exploring Beijing, the capital of the country.
The architecture and layout of the Forbidden City follow the outlines established by the famous architect; Shui, which were used throughout the country for many several decades. The mains halls of the complex face the Southern direction and open into a large courtyard that is usually surrounded by buildings that are lower in height creating a remarkable symmetrical form. Travelers coming from all over the world to enjoy their vacations in China admire these features of the Forbidden City.
Moving around the complex of the Forbidden City, visitors who travel to China, walk in the royal paths featured with its marble ground. Hundreds of years ago, only the royal cart of the Emperor of China used to move in these pathways. Even high officials, empresses, and many members of the royal family used to walk in other alternative routes.
Among the most interesting sections of the Forbidden City is the Gate of Heavenly Peace that is connected to the Tiananmen Square. There is the Meridian Gate, which is the main entrance of the complex in the Southern section. This is where tourists who travel to China enter inside the complex. Another remarkable section is the Hall of Middle Harmony. This was where the Emperor met with the public and announce the plans of the empire during the spring season.
