Greek Food Has Gained Worldwide Fame Because Of Its Authenticity

If you crave for food, you would be visiting every food joint in the city and satisfy your hunger for food. The neighbourhood restaurant has become your favourite place to hang around whether with friends or all alone. You don’t mind sitting at the single corner table and have your beloved Moussaka and enjoy to Byzantine music played through the speakers. Being in Australia, you can always taste for Greek food in Sydney.

Greek food has been adopted from the Mediterranean cuisine. The ingredients of the Greek cuisine mainly includes vegetables, olive oil, barley, wheat, fish, wine, and meat. Lamb, poultry, rabbit, and pork are delicacies of Greek cuisine. The flavours of Greek includes oregano, mint, garlic, onion and bay leaves. The climate has played an important role in deciding the ingredients of the native. A crude form of raw materials is used mostly by the populace who finds that refining kills the spirit of the food. People of Greece are fun loving so, dining out for them is habitual. This gave rise to many restaurants called Taverna who serves hot homely cooked food to natives and tourists with the much-needed warmth. Some of the traditional foods include:

Souvlaki – Consisting of grilled pieces of meat and vegetables served with bread or pita wrap.
Gyros – A form of the sandwich, where the outer wrapper is called rotisserie stuffed with pork or chicken meat. It is served with tomato or onion sauce
Tyropita – A Greek pastry filled with cheese-egg mixture
Spanakopita – A spinach pie pastry filled with cheese, onions, scallions or egg.

With the development of communication and spreading of knowledge, the Greek cuisine has reached far and wide. The joints who like serving the traditional cuisines the way it was served hundred years ago seldom messes with the original recipe. Most of the dedicated restaurants serve the cuisines as the native would do. Some of the dishes like loukaniko and Byzantium dates back to the ancient Greece. Greece has their own form of bread, appetizers, salads, soups, quick meals, desserts, and sweets. All these together have helped the Greek food to gain fame in Sydney.
