So, you could be simply enjoying the tastes of ancient Mediterranean flavors while sitting at home or at an eatery. Most interestingly this Mediterranean country takes pride in releasing the first ever cookbook for mankind. Archestrolus suggested that food has always been a priority among Greeks. Basil
Mint
Thyme

You can often find oregano in the small villages where they reap the herb in larger quantities. Thyme, mint and sage are also widely grown here. The Greeks not only consider these herbs as potential ingredients for cooking but also pick them for medicinal value. Both Chamomile and mountain tea are cultivated here and you can even say that people from Mediterranean region formulate their own medicines using these herbs in greater amount. As the Persians took over Greece they added ingredients like rice, yogurt, sesame seeds and honey in the list of majorly used ingredients. Citron also became a popular item. With the Roman invasion came food like Pasta. The sauces also arrived with their invasion. On the other hand, the Arab traders came along with their contribution to the Greek kitchen, by bringing cloves, allspice, cinnamon, cumin and much more.
