Home Improvements- Adding Value Even In A Bad Economy
The current real estate market has left many people stranded with a house that is over valued. It has happened too many times. Yet other people have paid a large amount for a house and still have improvements to be made to the dwelling. Then there are other people who are still trying to “flip” houses and make some quick money. Finally maybe you’re just trying to renovate your kitchen or bathroom and make some improvements to your current residence. Anyway, I have found a great way to save money on the two most important rooms in the house. The kitchen and the bathroom:
By far, the kitchen sees the most traffic of any room in the house. It is often the point of entry or the second room in the floor plan. The kitchen often becomes the focal point of the home, and the place where guests like to socialize. It is a meeting place, an eating place, and a place for entertaining; so it is imperative to make sure that this room is a feature of your house.
Gone are the days of the ever increasing real estate values. In this market corners have to be cut and bargains must be found. I tend to start with the kitchen in a rehab or a fixer upper. Like stated in the last paragraph, it is essential to the flow of the house. So when looking at this room, one notices the kitchen cabinets above all else. And why not, they are like a piece of furniture and cabinets are abundant in any kitchen setting. So buying smart for the kitchen cabinets is essential. I have found two ways to accomplish this: First, buy online. It is simple, easy and fun. No driving to the store, no waiting in lines and delivery right to your door. You’re saving on gas and time. Second, when buying online, look for ready to assemble kitchen cabinets (otherwise known as - RTA cabinets).
RTA is not a brand name, but instead a style of cabinet that you, the consumer, assemble. And why do you want to do this? Because RTA kitchen cabinets save you about thirty five to forty five percent over assembled cabinets, and better yet, these cabinets are as good or better quality. So buy smart—go online, use a keyword like RTA kitchen cabinet and find some great deals. Shop a few websites and see what is out there, you will find some variety but the better sites will have clear descriptions and will stand by their product. Also stay away from particle board. It will not hold up and will eventually cause you problems. Good RTA kitchen cabinets or bathroom vanities will be made of solid wood fronts and paneled wood sides. So keep this in mind when comparing cabinets on different websites. Basically make sure you are comparing “apples to apples”.
Even when shopping for bathroom vanities or bathroom vanity furniture, RTA cabinets are still a great option. With all the new styles and improvements in manufacturing, some of the RTA bathroom vanities that are on the market are as good, if not better than the brand names. Buying online and using RTA products will get you going in the right direction and will save you a lot of money. So good luck and get started.
